Autumn Matcha Latte: Warm Vanilla and Cinnamon Recipe
Partager
When temperatures drop, the morning ritual needs to adapt. A warm matcha latte — thick, velvety, subtly fragrant — is a natural response.
This recipe takes 5 minutes. It keeps you going until 1 PM without a crash.
Ingredients (1 cup)
- 2g ceremonial matcha (2 chashaku scoops)
- 60ml water at 75°C
- 150ml oat milk (or whole milk)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pinch of cinnamon
- Optional: 1 spoon of maple syrup
Preparation
Step 1: Sift 2g of matcha into a bowl. Add 60ml of 75°C water and whisk vigorously in a Z-motion for 30 seconds until a fine foam forms.
Step 2: Heat the milk without boiling it (70°C). Add the vanilla extract and cinnamon.
Step 3: Froth the milk (electric whisk or steam wand). Pour over the matcha base. The foam will rise naturally.
Sweet option: Incorporate maple syrup into the warm milk before frothing.
Quality tip: Quality matcha remains noticeable even with milk. The natural sweetness of Saemidori complements milk without being overwhelmed by bitterness. With culinary matcha, the result will be much more bitter — requiring more sugar to compensate.
Autumnal variations
- Pumpkin spice matcha — add 1/4 tsp of spice blend: nutmeg, ginger, cardamom
- Matcha honey ginger — replace syrup with honey and add fresh grated ginger
- Vegan version — coconut milk (thick, creamy texture) + maple syrup
FAQ
Q: Which plant-based milk froths best?
A: Barista oat milk is the most popular: it froths well and has a neutral taste that doesn't mask the matcha. Coconut milk gives a thicker, creamier texture.
Q: Can the matcha base be prepared in advance?
A: Yes, the base (matcha + water) can be prepared and refrigerated for 12 hours. Whisk again before adding hot milk.
