Why Origin? One cultivar. One origin. Uncompromising quality.

Description

This exceptional matcha is known for its vivid green color, natural sweetness and silky umami.

Harvested in Uji, the iconic matcha region, it is grown without pesticides, then slowly stone-ground to preserve its aroma and nutrients.

This is a rare, sought-after matcha, rich in antioxidants, L-theanine and slow-release caffeine, delivering stable energy without stress or jitters, and genuine support for cognitive performance.

No coloring. No preservatives. No sugar.

70 g = 70 cups, i.e. about €1.08 per cup.

Why choose the 70 g large format?

The 70 g is the economical format of Origin, designed for those who drink matcha every day. At €75.90, it costs less than two 30 g formats (€77.80) while giving you 10 g of extra powder: the best quantity-to-price ratio in our ceremonial grade matcha range.

The contents are strictly identical to the smaller format: the same Saemidori cultivar, the same harvest from Uji, the same stone milling. Only the quantity changes. Buying in a larger quantity also spares you running out between orders — which matters with a cultivar as sought-after as Saemidori.

New to matcha? Start with the 30 g discovery format, then move up to the 70 g once your ritual is established. And for a successful usucha, prepare it with a black bamboo chasen whisk: it is what creates the fine, even foam typical of Japanese ceremonial matcha.

Storing a large format properly

With a 70 g pouch, storage matters. Close the packaging carefully after each use and keep it away from light, heat and moisture. Matcha is a living powder: stored properly, it keeps its vivid green color and its umami down to the last cup.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the 70 g and the 30 g format?

None in terms of content: it is the same Origin matcha, the same Saemidori cultivar harvested in Uji, the same ceremonial grade. Only the quantity changes. The 30 g is the discovery format, the 70 g the economical format for daily drinking.

How many cups can you make with 70 g?

About 70 cups, using 1 g of matcha for 70 ml of water at 75 °C — the dose of a traditional usucha. That is roughly €1.08 per cup.

What is the Saemidori cultivar?

Saemidori is the single cultivar Origin is made from. Grown in Uji without pesticides then slowly stone-ground, it gives that vivid green color, that natural sweetness and that silky umami with minimal bitterness.

Do you need a chasen whisk to prepare this matcha?

It is strongly recommended. The bamboo chasen whisk is what produces the fine, even foam of ceremonial matcha, which neither a spoon nor a blender can reproduce.
